SUMMARY

The Grants Specialist will contribute to achieving high quality programming by ensuring effective grants management including, compliance requirements, reporting, timely and quality proposal development, and internal and external communication. S/he also supports donor communication by ensuring effective channels of internal and external communications relating to grants are established and respected.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate with internal teams: Work closely with departments like finance, programs, and leadership to gather necessary information for grant applications.

  • Ensure compliance with guidelines: Review grant applications to ensure adherence to the funder’s requirements, including format, length, and submission procedures.

  • Assist in budget creation: Help prepare budgets based on project needs and ensure they are compliant with the funder's requirements.

  • Track grant expenditures: Maintain records of spending and monitor the budget to ensure that funds are used appropriately and in line with the grant agreement.

  • Ensure adherence to grant terms: Ensure that grant activities comply with the funder's requirements, including the use of funds and reporting deadlines.

  • Prepare reports: Assist in preparing interim and final reports for funders, including financial reports and programmatic outcomes.

  • Record-keeping: Maintain detailed and accurate records of all grant-related documents, including agreements, budgets, reports, and communications with funders.

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders: Work with program and finance teams to ensure proper grant execution and reporting.

  • Collect and compile data: Gather data from various teams to evaluate the success of grant programs, which will be used for reports and future grant applications.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 1–2 years of experience in grant administration or related work in nonprofit, government, or educational settings.

  • Degrees in fields like social sciences, economics, accounting, or project management may also be advantageous.

  • Understanding of budgeting, financial reporting, and tracking grant expenditures.

  • Experience or knowledge of grants management tools is preferred.

  • Microsoft Office computer skills, proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
